Stockholm, November 1, 2023

Ericsson, the leading Swedish telecommunications-equipment company, has recently made key appointments to strengthen its leadership team. Effective from November 1, 2023, Chris Houghton has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO), and Asa Tamsons will take on the role of Head of the Enterprise Wireless Solutions business.

Commitment to Business Transformation

Ericsson's decision to appoint Houghton and Tamsons reflects its unwavering commitment to accelerating its business transformation. Houghton, who previously served as the Head of North East Asia, will now focus on various cross-group initiatives, ensuring ongoing cost efficiency measures. On the other hand, Tamsons, formerly the Senior Vice President of Technologies & New Businesses, will spearhead efforts to grow the Enterprise Wireless Solutions business while driving towards breakeven.

Smooth Transition

As part of this leadership transition, George Mulhern, the current Head of Enterprise Wireless Solutions, will remain involved as an advisor to the business before retiring from Ericsson in 2024. Additionally, Nunzio Mirtillo, Head of South East Asia, Oceania & India, will also retire from Ericsson in 2024. Consequently, Ericsson has initiated recruitment processes to appoint new leaders for the North East Asia and South East Asia, Oceania & India regions.

Ericsson continues to evolve and adapt under the guidance of its dynamic leadership team. These recent appointments position the company for further success in the ever-evolving telecommunications industry.
