China's Shanghai Composite Index

China's Shanghai Composite Index (SHCOMP) weakened slightly by 0.1% to settle at 2,968.93.

Singapore stocks

The FTSE Straits Times Index (STI) of Singapore stocks saw a small increase of 0.2% to reach 3,083.00.

South Korea's KOSPI Composite Index

South Korea's KOSPI Composite Index remained flat at 2,495.38.

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 Benchmark Index

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 Benchmark Index experienced a significant increase of 1.7%, reaching 7,178.40.

Top Performers in the Nikkei 225 Index

Among the constituents of the Nikkei 225 Index, printing company Toppan Holdings (7911) saw the highest increase on Wednesday, with shares jumping by 11.0%.

Electric power generation firm Tokyo Electric Power (9501) and furniture/home furnishings retailing company Nitori Holdings (9843) also performed well, with their shares increasing by 8.1% and 5.5% respectively.

Decliners in Japan

On the other hand, cosmetics/toiletries company Shiseido (4911) saw a decline of 1.0% on Wednesday.

Rail passenger transport firm Keio (9008) and semiconductors company Sumco (3436) also experienced a decrease of 0.6% and 0.4% respectively.

Top Performers in the Hang Seng Index

Among the constituents of the Hang Seng Index, computers/consumer electronics company Lenovo Group (992) saw the highest increase on Wednesday, with shares jumping by 10.0%.

Online service providers firm Netease (9999) and full-service restaurants company Haidilao Intl Hldg (6862) also showed strong performance, with their shares increasing by 4.6% and 4.5% respectively.

Hong Kong Decliners

Dairy products company China Mengniu Dairy (2319) experienced the largest drop in Hong Kong, with its shares declining by 2.5% on Wednesday.

Pharmaceuticals firm Sino Biopharmaceutical (1177) and integrated oil/gas company PetroChina (857) also weakened by 1.7% and 1.2% respectively.
